Located in Southeastern England, Torbay is home to a few decent beach breaks that offer up some punchy sections for manoeuvres when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Will work for a short period of time on East channel swells.
What are the best surf conditions for Torbay?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here does not break very often (3/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells are from the East, South, Southeast, and Southwest ones that wrap. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when temps plunge to 8 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
