Located in Southeastern England, Hayling Island is a sheltered sand island that has a beach break good for performance manoeuvres when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Hayling Island?
Gets good between waist high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard if the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and will sometimes have a crew (6/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells need to be massive and from the Southwest. Works on a low to mid tide best.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when the water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 8 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
