Located in Northern Cornwall, England, Widemouth Bay is a quality beach break that offers up some good sections for turns and hacks when the conditions line up. The waves here are not always easy to surf (there is something for everyone though) and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. There are rocky reefs spread out along the long stretch of beaches which can get good.
What are the best surf conditions for Widemouth Bay?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (7/10) and will usually be pretty crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. There will be something working on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
