Located in Cornwall and South Devon, England, Paignton is a fun beach break that has good sections for turns and hacks. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Paignton?
Gets good between waist high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is not consistent (4/10) and will get busy on weekends (5/10). The best winds are from the Southwest and West. The best swells are from the East and Northeast. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
