Located on Rottnest Island, Salmon Point is a gnarly left-hand reef break with a coral bottom. Some waves can be challenging while also providing fun sections for manoeuvres. The live coral on the bottom is sharp, and there is a great white shark breeding ground nearby: surf at your own risk.
Gets good between waist-high to triple overhead. We recommend riding your standard shortboard here. Salmon Point is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf breaks here pretty often (6/10) and you can score uncrowded waves (4/10). The best winds for Salmon Point are Northeast, the best tide is mid to high. The best swell direction is from the South, Southwest and West.
