Méi iwwer Lagundri Bay - The Point

Located on Nias, Lagundri Bay is the ultimate reef break that offers up an amazing right-hand barrel that is world-renowned. The horseshoe-shaped bay of Lagrundi is home to a wave that has been called many things: Nias, Lagundri, Sorake, or the Point; but all refer to this beautiful break. The reef rose from an earthquake in 2004, making the drop a bit more critical and the barrel wider and deeper. The entry is predictable, the barrel is amazing (some claim up to 10 seconds), and the paddle back out is easy. The initial paddle out is dry hair if you use the keyhole in the reef. The waves are heavy, but straightforward to surf, breaking for up to 200 meters over a coral reef. This spot will also handle a little bit of wind from any direction, not just offshore.More...
