Located in the Mentawais, Indonesia, West Sumatra, Hideaways is an excellent reef break that offers up a ledgy lefthand barrel. The waves here are generally heavy and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef. Some refer to this spot as the Mentawais Pipeline, a comparison that almost seems fair to make on the best day at Hideaways. It lacks the power or size that Ka Pipeline does. Still, a good barrel awaits. When it isn’t so good here, a wall fit for carving will be the norm.
